SUMMER IN AASIAAT
Our summer season runs from June to October
So goes the age-old question: why is Iceland not called Greenland and Greenland not called Iceland? While we can’t speak to the former, the answer to the latter is simply: summer. During the warmer months, the country comes to life with flowers and berries sprouting from grounds that were coated in snow just a few months earlier. Aasiaat’s array of colorful wooden houses add extra life to the scenery that unfolds during the town’s busiest season.
That’s not to say the question doesn’t have some merit. After all, even in the summer months, Aasiaat’s breath-taking icebergs stand tall. Take a cruise under the midnight sun to witness them in all their glory, or visit by kayak – one of the area’s most popular activities. Either way, be sure to keep an eye out for whales on the way; the gentle giants of Aasiaat bay come out to play as the weather warms up.

Those who prefer to explore on foot can get a unique view of the town by participating in the famous Midnight Marathon, held every year in June and finished with an uproarious celebration under the town's spectacular summer sky.
