Cross Country Skiing

Walk like the Ancients through the wild of Greenland
About Cross Country Skiing

Skiing as a form of transportation dates back over 5000 years and has evolved from simply a means of transport to the invigorating recreational activity it is today.  Cross Country Skiing throughout Scandinavia has a rich history, being used for daily transport needs, to exploration with the likes of Fridtjov Nansen to special forces units in World War II.

The sport itself is well received worldwide, with features in the Winter Olympics and many special events including biathlons annually.  In Greenland the practicality of cross country skiing can still be appreciated, with many terrains still as difficult to traverse as ever. The depth of snow cannot always be easily judged, making skis ideal for exploration, and exhilarating when roaming the mountainous ranges.

The Experience

Walk the path less trodden in your own På ski over Grønland, when you meet with your instructor who will introduce you to the logistics of Cross Country Skiing before taking you on your own adventure.

Experience an age old means of exploration as you find your unique path through Disko Bay’s wild landscape.  Your trip can be as special or as simple as you like, our guides can take you where you would like to go, or we can suggest places that are special to the area.  Get a good breakfast in though, as you’ll need the calories to get you through your exciting day.
